CHAPTER 1

DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

1.     Descriptive Text Introduction:

·       Understanding descriptive text.

·       The purpose of writing descriptive text.

·       Example of simple descriptive text.

2.     Descriptive Text Structure:

·       Introduction to descriptive text elements, such as title, introduction, body of text, and conclusion.

·       An explanation of how each section contributes to delivering a clear and organized description.

3.     Related Vocabulary:

·       List of vocabulary frequently used in descriptive text.

·       Example sentences using this vocabulary in a descriptive context.

4.     Description Writing Techniques:

·       Use simple and clear sentences.

·       Use details and descriptive words to make descriptions more vivid.

·       Practice constructing descriptions of objects, places, or people.

5.      Example of Descriptive Text:

·       Various examples of descriptive texts about various topics such as animals, tourist attractions, food, and so on.

·       Analyze each example text to understand the structure and effective use of language.

6.       Exercise:

·       Practice in identifying descriptive text elements in a given text.

·       Practice in writing your own description based on a given image or topic

 

CHAPTER 2

NARATIVE TEXT

The aim of narrative texts is to develop their understanding of story structure, vocabulary, grammar, and language style in a more interesting and meaningful context.  It also helps them understand the basic concepts of plot, character, setting, and themes in stories.  In addition, narrative texts can help improve students' reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.

1.     Defenition of Narative Text

Narrative text is a type of text that tells an event or story in a regular time sequence.

2.     Narrative Text Structure:

Usually consists of introduction (orientation), conflict (complication), climax (climax), resolution (resolution), and closing (coda).

3.     Narrative Text elements:

Characters, setting (place and time), plot (storyline), conflict (problem), theme (moral message), and language style (word choice and writing style).

4.     Examples of Narrative Text:

 Can be fairy tales, legends, myths, short stories, or folk tales.

5.     Use of Tenses:

Learning also includes the use of appropriate tenses in narrative text, such as simple past tense to tell about events in the past.

6.     Narrative Techniques:

 Learning includes narrative techniques such as the use of description, dialogue, and narration to strengthen the story.

7.     Understanding Moral Messages:

 Students are taught to identify and understand the moral messages contained in the narrative text they read.

8.     Writing Skills:

 Apart from understanding and analyzing narrative text, students are also trained to write narrative text with a correct and creative structure.

 

CHAPTER 3

EXPLANATION TEXT

English learning about explanatory texts aims to develop students' abilities to understand and present information clearly and in detail.  It also helps them expand their vocabulary and improve their reading and writing skills in English.

Introduction to explanatory text:

 Recognize the characteristics of explanatory text and its purpose.

 Identify text structure:

Understand how explanatory text is divided into parts such as introduction, body and conclusion.

 Looking for key information:

Learn to identify important information Or main ideas conveyed in explanatory text.

 Vocabulary comprehension:

Understanding the special vocabulary used in explanatory texts to explain concepts or processes.

 Finding concrete examples:

Recognizing the use of real examples or illustrations in explanatory texts to clarify the concept or process being explained.

 Practice writing simple explanatory texts:

Give students the opportunity to write explanatory texts about topics they understand, such as the process of making their favorite food or an explanation of how a tool works.

 

CHAPTER 4

PROCEDUR TEXT

The goal of learning English about procedure texts is to help them understand how to follow the steps sequentially to complete certain tasks or activities in English, such as making food, assembling an item, or carrying out an experiment.  This helps them develop reading skills, understand instructions, and apply English knowledge in practical situations.

Understanding the concept of procedure text:

Students are taught what procedure text is, which is a type of text that provides step-by-step instructions for completing a task or activity.

 Identifying the characteristics of procedural texts:

Students learn to recognize the special characteristics of procedural texts, such as the presence of ordered steps and the use of imperative words.

 Reading and understanding simple procedural texts:

Students are trained to read and understand simple procedural texts, such as making a sandwich or cooking instant noodles.

 Students are asked to re-elaborate activity steps based on the procedure text they have read, to ensure their understanding.

 Compose simple procedure texts for everyday activities:

Students learn to compose their own simple procedure texts for everyday activities, such as how to wash your hands or make your bed.

 Using appropriate vocabulary in procedure texts:

Students are introduced to vocabulary commonly used in procedure texts, such as imperative verbs (examples: "open", "pour", "slice").

 Practicing writing and following instructions from procedure texts they have studied:

 Students are given practice writing procedure texts and also following instructions from procedure texts they have studied, to test their understanding and skills in writing and following instructions.
